The circuit only opens to allow oil to flow to the oil cooler under higher oil Pressure and the problem is street driving your usually not in the higher oil pressure for long periods of time. Nissan should have used a temperature switch and not a pressure switch it would have been way better. This way once the oil temp was up you would be using the cooler all the time to circulate the oil and use the extra capacity of the oil cooler itself.
